I crave the cosmic and the common,
refusing to sever half my soul.
I choose to grow in all directions:
to grow both fruit and edible root;
to glory in the ground and desire the sky;
to stretch roots across acres
and reach for the bedrock;
to rejoice in the changing shapes of the seasons.
I eschew the single minded vision.
I am all Eye.

I wrote this when I was in my mid-thirties, when life was an adventure. At almost 80, my life now is a different kind of adventure.
And it’s more than the eyes. The WordPress I used more than a decade ago is a different animal. I’m on a very slow learning curve. But they say that learning new things is good for the brain. Maybe so, but it’s not always good for the stress..
As I get older, I need things to be more simple. Only nothing is simple these days. Even though the “Ayes” had it in Washington and voted to impeach the Big Orange Turd, it’s still complicated, and it’s not going to be easy.
What fun to grow older! We actually went to the rally downtown in favor of the impeachment. But what will it amount to, other than our freezing our bodies and
catching colds? Tomorrow, we go to the urologist’s to see what Mike’s options are
for the future. This is why we retire, I guess – to make time for more doctors’ appointments.
Good luck with your eye – sheesh! The organ recital goes on….
You are a lot braver than I. I used to not mind the cold. Now my knees complain loudly. Good luck to Mike with the urologist. Tat’s a new speciality on my menu as well.
My doc says I’ll probably need cataract surgery within a year. I’m almost looking forward to it, as my eyesight is not like it used to be. I’m hoping one day to see Trump being led away in handcuffs.
I wish it were my cataracts, but it’s not. Everyone I know who had their cataracts done are happy that they did. Good luck with yours.
I relate! I’m relatively the same age, my eyes are in trouble, and so many things are bad for my stress level! And I feel the same way about the Orange one…
It’s hard not to focus on my “organ recital” (as my good friend Fran ) and get into the real blogging mode again.
